Familly Trip to South Luberon
Looking for a change of scenery? We all dream of it! Let us take you to a short stay in Beaumont-de-Pertuis in the Luberon Côté Sud where we were able to stay at the Maison de Beaumont. Our program : some history, spending time in nature, breathtaking landscapes and a charming accommodation, ideal for small and large families alike
Beaumont-de-Pertuis a hidden gem in Luberon
The Luberon Côté Sud is known for its well preserved landscape and villages. Far from the crowds, the old medieval towns are charming : old stone buildings, vineyards and lavender fields. Each of these villages has its own universe. Beaumont-de-Pertuis is set appart by the friendliness of its inhabitants and its authenticity.
In the center of Beaumont-de-Pertuis, you will find everything you need for a successful holiday in Provence: a small bakery, a little deli (“Vival”), a local restaurant, a bar, a library and even an international Artist Residency : “La Maison de Beaumont” !
Hike towards Sainte-Croix Chapel
It is the perfect village for lovers of old stone buildings and history. The thousand-year-old Jean Baptiste church sits enthroned in the center of the village, but there are also 2 other historic religious buildings: the Notre-Dame-de-Beauvoir chapel and the Sainte-Croix Hermitage with a stunning view which makes the 3.5 km ride totally worth it.

During this walk, start by passing in front of the century old mossy fountain. In the center, leaning against the surrounding wall of the village of Beaumont, the mossy fountain provides water to the covered washhouse located next door.
A little further on, you will come to the Notre-Dame-de-Beauvoir chapel. We are unsure of the exact date it was build but we know it can be attributed to the monks of the Saint-Victor de Marseille abbey (around 1079). It served as a parish for several months following the collapse of the Saint Jean church in 1709. Following the Revolution, it was bought, reopened for worship and maintained by the municipality.

The first mentions of the Sainte-Croix chapel date back to the 14th century. Perhaps it was originally a simple pilgrimage sanctuary belonging to the community of Beaumont. Nested in the heights, it offers you a splendid view of the village and the hills of Luberon.

To help you walk towards the chapel, we put together is walking map of the hike.
La Maison de Beaumont: History & Comfort

The large building on the left is “La Maison de Beaumont”. Dating from the 18th century, it was heavily demolished during the great earthquake of 1708. At the time, the church tower had collapsed on the house! After an initial renovation, it was used as the house of the Lord of the own, after the french revolution it turned into a Town Hall before becoming the village’s elementary school. Today, after 3 years of renovation, the Maison de Beaumont offers 6 rental apartments for 2 to 3 people.

La Maison de Beaumont is the perfect place to meet up with the family for a holiday in the Luberon. You could rent only one of the apartments or organize a larger get together and rent several accommodations at once. The multi-apartment setup allows you to be together, while keeping your independence and meeting on the large warm private terrace over dinners at night.

Perfect marriage of history and modernity, it is an accommodation in which one feels at peace. And everything is thought through to welcome you: walk-in shower, terrace, neat decoration and a box system with secret code to access the apartment and leave independently.
We fell in love with the “Horizon” apartment, the one on the top floor, which invites us to admire the spiral staircase and its marks of the passage of time. Arches revealing old doors, a plaque with a coat of arms dating from 1712,… All these details were carefully revealed during the renovation.

The most pleasant thing about the Horizon apartment is its terrace and its large window which floods the room with light. In the middle of fall season, you can eat outside with this incredible view. On the right, we see nature, the Sainte-Croix Chapel, on the left, the bell tower which seems there only for us and opposite, the view over the roofs of Beaumont-de-Pertuis.
Located between Grambois and Mirabeau, Beaumont-de-Pertuis is the perfect village to discover the filmography of Sud Luberon. It was in Grambois that Yves Robert filmed “My Father’s Glory” and it was in Mirabeau, a neighboring village of Beaumont-de-Pertuis, that was filmed Manon des Sources.
Alright we told you enough about Luberon, time to book your stay at La Maison de Beaumont !
